Public works clears roads after winter weather
Many roads within Estacada city limits are being cleared after snow and ice descended on the region throughout the weekend.
This morning, Feb. 19, public works staff de-iced main streets and roads that connect to subdivisions, such as Main Street and Fourth Avenue. Traffic is a bit lighter with schools and government offices closed for the Presidents' Day holiday.
Snow and ice hit much of the Portland region during the weekend of Feb. 17 and 18. Nearby Estacada, Damascus received two inches of snow, and one area in Boring received nine inches.
"Most areas in the east metro (area) received anywhere from one to three inches, and the higher spots received four to five," said Matthew Cullen of the National Weather Service.
The Oregon Department of Transportation reports that Highway 211 and Highway 224 remain open.
