The boys held a joint birthday party Saturday, Dec. 14. But instead of gifts, the boys asked guests to bring canned food for the hungry.

“It was completely on their own,” said Carson's mom, Terra Emerson. “We were surprised they wanted to do that.”

The boys and their party guests gathered eight full grocery sacks of food and donated them to the Estacada Community Center on Monday, Dec. 23.
