The Rangers pick up a pair of individual wins along with a pair of relays victories

Estacada’s equestrian team opened the season with a close win over Clackamas in the Northeast Region mid-size school meet last month. The Rangers finished with 372 points to beat the Cavaliers by 19.

“We had a lot of high placers in the performance events. That’s where we have the most experienced riders,” coach Janeen Parries said.

Courtney Helgeson led the way with a win in Hunt Seat Equitation with a score of 101 points, while finishing second, one point off the lead, in the Driving exercise. She also came away with a fourth-place finish in Western Horsemanship.

The Rangers best scoring event came with a 1-2 finish in the Hand Trail drill won by Kaitlyn Mixon with a score of 83, followed closely by Helgeson two points back.

Danielle Goodrick managed a third-place finish in Dressage.

In the tag-team events, Audrie Voeller, Jolena Leininger, Helgeson and Mixon combined for a win in the Hand Obstacle Relay with a score of 81 points, while Goodrich, Leininger, Danielle Moser and Teresa Mantei won the Freestyle Fours with a 1,230 score.

The next meet is set for Friday, Feb. 28, at the Mt. Hood Equestrian Center in Boring.
