Cash mob sets October target

Forest Grove Cash Mob is supporting Izgara, 2036 Main St. in Forest Grove, during the month of October. A cash mob tries to flood a specific business with customers, often over a short span of time, such as an hour or a day.

Previous cash mobs by the Forest Grove group have targeted the Sugar Shack and Dutch Bros. coffee kiosks. The effort was started last August as a way to creatively and productively protest the new Dream Girl coffee kiosk operated by bikini baristas.

The group aims to “contribute to the local economy and show our support for a great local business,” according to member Jennifer Brenner.

Food + art = money

The Sept. 20 “Meet the Artist” fundraiser sponsored by Forest Grove’s Public Arts Commission raised $1,875 for the commission. Meanwhile, a Family and Friends Night at McMenamins raised $1,989 for the Forest Grove Library Foundation.

The eight library-related Family and Friends nights since 2004 have raised a total of $17,797, according to Library Director Colleen Winters, for an average of $2,224 per event.
