Courtesy photo: Gil LunaForest Grove businessman and farmer Lyle Spieeschaert (right) received the Distinguished Alumni Award from Visitation Catholic School in Verboort during Catholic Schools Week from Father Michael Vuky and Principal Carol Funk. Spiesschaert, a 1961 graduate of Visitation, is chairman of the Visitation Cemetery Committee and vice-chairman of the Washington County Fairground Boosters. He received a Masters in Educational Psychology from the University of Arizona in 1981 before returning to Verboort in 1984, where today he manages his family farm. He operates the music and sound system during the annual Verboort Sausage Festival and puts up Christmas decorations every December. “Lyle is always there to help with whatever we need,” said Sister Clare Vandecoevering.
