The Banks City Council met last Tuesday, May 13.

n Mark Gregg was elected president of the city council, taking over for councilor Christy Greagor who recently resigned for personal reasons.

n The council now has an open position. Those interested in applying can contact the city of Banks at 503-324-5112, or 13680 NW Main St., Banks, OR 97106. Applications are due Wednesday, May 28.

n Jolynn Becker is currently on medical leave until the first week of June. John Paul Mammone has been hired on a personal services contract to temporarily fill in the city manager position until Becker’s return. According to City Recorder Angie Lanter, Mammone worked for the city before as an unpaid intern working on the city handbook and was a previous candidate for city manager.

n Gene Stout was appointed to the Tree, Park and Recreation Board. His term ends December 31, 2016.

n Council members voted to renew a contact with Washington County Sheriff’s Department for a monthly payment of $16,451, a 1.8 percent increase.

n Council members voted to contract Liquivision Technology Diving Services to clean the city’s water tanks, which haven’t been cleaned since 2008.
