Adelante Mujeres Executive Director Bridget Cooke thanked supporters during an open house at the Forest Grove nonprofit's new digs on Main Street March 1. Started 15 years ago, the Latino empowerment organization set a goal last October of raising $250,000 even before officially launching a capital campaign to buy the building where it had rented space.
At the campaign launch last Wednesday, Cooke announced the group had actually raised $290,000. That allowed the nonprofit to make the down payment on the property and pay for inspections and fees.
Now the funding push continues for the campaign's total goal: $2 million.
That amount will allow Adelante to remodel and relocate its Early Childhood Education and Adult Education classrooms, build an outdoor play area, additional meeting rooms and a commercial kitchen in the building, as well as to pay off the balance of the purchase price.
