Residents to form cleanup crews for Cornelius
This Saturday, May 20, an army of volunteers armed with gloves and trash bags will spread through Cornelius neighborhoods to participate on the sixth annual "Take Care of Cornelius" clean-up day.
Last year, participants filled several large dumpsters with trash collected from streets, railroad corridors and public areas. They also planted flowers and spread bark dust.
Volunteers will meet in the Cornelius Fred Meyer parking lot at 8:30 a.m. to receive their assignments (and gloves) while enjoying free donuts from Fred Meyer and free coffee from Human Bean Coffee.
After finishing their work assignments at noon, volunteers will gather at Harleman Park, located at Tenth Avenue and Heather Street, where the Cornelius Fire Department will serve free hot dogs and salad.
Sponsors and donors include Cornelius Disposal Service, Cornelius Fred Meyer, Wilco Farm Store, Sonic Drive-In, Fastenal, Human Bean Coffee, Reser's Fine Foods, Portland & Western Railroad, Gratteri's Tire Service, SOLVE, Metro, Washington County and the City of Cornelius.
