Local pioneers rise from the grave to tell stories
Fans of "Little House on the Prairie" might want to visit the Forest View Cemetery Saturday, Oct. 7, because the "real" Nellie Olsen (actual name: Nellie Owens Kirry) will be telling her story.
Nellie is one of nine western Washington County pioneers who will rise from their graves (through local actors) when Friends of Historic Forest Grove presents "Grave Matters," a living-history tour of the cemetery.
The event takes place Saturday, Oct. 7, from 3 to 6 p.m. Ticket-holders will meet at Tom McCall Upper Elementary School and walk to the cemetery. Tours run every 20 minutes.
A limited number of tickets are available online at fhfg.org and at Corner Antiques & Collectibles, 2019 Pacific Ave., Forest Grove.
