Banks High School student receives honors for PSAT
The National Merit Scholarship Corporation named Banks High School student Josie O'Harrow a "commended student" in its 2018 scholarship competition.
The award is part of the 2018 National Merit Scholarship Program.
Commended students scored in the top 50,000 of the more than 1.6 million students — in the top 2 percent — who took the preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test. About 34,000 students received the honor across the nation, recognized for their "exceptional academic promise."
Commended students will not progress to the 2018 competition for National Merit Scholarship awards.
O'Harrow is also a member of the Banks track and cross country teams and participates in the school's robotics and yearbook programs. "Josie is an outstanding student and representative of Banks High School," said Jacob Pence, BHS principal.
Pence will present O'Harrow with a letter of commendation for her achievements.
