Woman pleads guilty in criminally negligent homicide case
Bethany Morgan Lumber, 27, pleaded guilty Friday, Nov. 17, to two charges related to the death of a 22-year-old Forest Grove man.
Lumber's guilty pleas to criminally negligent homicide and driving under the influence were connected to an incident last March 18 in which she hit and killed Forest Grove resident Jonathan Dominguez-Esquivel around 10:40 p.m. while he walked along Pacific Avenue near Highway 47 on his way to work.
Lumber was driving east on Pacific Avenue when she struck Dominguez-Esquivel, who was transported from the scene and later died at a local hospital. Lumber's blood alcohol content was .20 percent shortly after the crash, more than twice the legal limit.
Lumber was sentenced to 70 months, nearly six years, in prison. She also lost her driving privileges for life.
The Forest Grove Police Department was assisted by members of the Washington County Crash Analysis and Reconstruction Team, the Hillsboro Police Department, the Oregon State Police Forensics Laboratory and the Washington County District Attorney's Office during this investigation.
