by: GRESHAM POLICE DEPARTMENT - Keshia MoritzThe woman police were looking for who may have witnessed the murder of a Gresham mother of two has contacted police.

At about 4:45 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 15, police issued a press release stating that Keshia Moritz, 28, had been found, said Lt. Claudio Grandjean, Gresham Police spokesman.

She reportedly was with Joshua R. Cavett, 36, of Portland, at about 11:30 a.m. Saturby: MULTNOMAH COUNTY SHERIFFS OFFICE - Joshua R. Cavettday, Oct. 12, when he allegedly shot his estranged wife Jessie Doyle-Cavett, 27, in the head at her apartment in Gresham.

The victim was in the process of divorcing him and had a restraining order against him, but he went to her apartment in the 2700 block of West Powell Boulevard demanding to see their 2-year-old daughter. Not wanting to cause a scene, Doyle-Cavett reluctantly let him in and he allegedly shot her in front of their daughter, as well as Doyle-Cavett's 5-year-old daughter from a prior CONTRIBUTED PHOTO - Jessie Doyle-Cavett

Cavett left the older daughter there with her critically wounded mother and fled the scene with the toddler, who he did not have custody of, prompting Gresham police to issue an Amber Alert for both of them. Residents at a different apartment complex about a mile away called 911 shortly before 9 p.m. and reported seeing the man and little girl. Police arrested him without incident and the girl was safe. Doyle-Cavett died a short time later.

Grandjean said detectives are in the process of arranging an interview with Moritz to get a full statement.

"There is a 9-and-a-half-hour gap there between the shooting and when he was arrested, and hopefully she can help us fill in part of that gap," he said.

It isn't clear what Moritz's connection to Cavett is, but police suspect she is his girlfriend.

Cavett is being held without bail at the Multnomah County Detention Center on allegations of murder, attempted murder, first-degree assault and two counts of being a felon in possession of a firearm
