Gresham schools honored for hiring local contractors
The Greater Gresham Chamber of Commerce honored the Gresham-Barlow School District for hiring local contractors for its school building program. The district got the chamber's Try Local First Champion Award.
Gresham voters approved a $291 million school bond in November 2016. The bond funds will be used to improve safety, renovate the two high schools and replace East and North Gresham elementary schools.
Chief Financial Officer Mike Schofield said, "Our school bond project teams are committed to hiring local contractors and subcontractors and keeping bond dollars in our community."
