Children's bookshop offers fun for all ages
Maggie Mae's Kids Bookshop, which recently opened at 43 N.W. Third St., in downtown Gresham, specializes in children's books but has something for all ages. The store carries new books, remainder copies and gently used books.
"Our goal is to provide a variety of multicultural books, foreign language books, and diverse books," said owner Soshanna "Sho" Roberts. "Along with books you will find locally made and literary-themed gifts. We also offer free story times every Wednesday and Saturday beginning at 10:30 a.m.
Roberts, who has worked in bookstores and with children as a nanny, said the shop combines her love of books and teaching young children.
"We ran a seasonal mobile kids bookshop for three years in the Portland area with the goal of one day having our own storefront," she said.
As the business begins to grow, she hopes to add more events to the store calendar, offer different book clubs and become more involved in the community.
