Roger Patrick Pitts

Oct. 12, 1963- July 17, 2013

Roger was born in Gresham to Dennis and Janet (Taylor) Pitts and joined sister, Denise. He grew up in the Springdale/Corbett area and graduated from Corbett High School.

Roger arose early every morning to enjoy each day to the fullest whether it was a school day or a day to help his Dad with a project. He loved riding his dirt bike for hours on end, exploring the woods of Larch Mtn and the nearby Columbia Gorge with his pals, and hunting trips with his Dad and Grandpas.

Roger had no children of his own, but dearly loved the time spent with his nieces (Lyla, Emily, Christine) and nephew (Daniel). More recently, Lyla’s children, Jordan, Amy and Eli, and Dan’s son Tripp became an important part of Roger’s life.

Roger moved to Sandy in 1996 to assist his Mother. The last 10 years of Roger’s life brought a variety of health problems. In the spring of 2012, he was diagnosed with stage IV rectal cancer. Roger endured all the treatments and tests with a positive attitude and his unique sense of humor.

Roger and his family wish to thank the dedicated medical staff at Compass Oncology Providence, Adventist Medical Center and Mt. Hood Hospice for their excellent care. Also, a big thanks to all those who sent up prayers for Roger.

Roger is survived by his mother, Janet Pitts; sister, Denise (Jeff) Horton; nephew, Dan (Lorinda) Horton; nieces, Lyla (Ricky) Hernandez, Emily (Lawrence) Arnell, and Christine Horton; uncle, John Taylor; aunt, Dayna McCarty.

Friends and family are invited to Janet’s home to share memories of Roger on Saturday Sept. 14, 2pm- 6pm. Call503 668-6234 or 668-5376 for details.
