Ominous skies didn’t stop community members from enjoying the 85th annual Smith Memorial Presbyterian spring luncheon Thursday, April 24.

“We love being able to visit, dress up and see old friends,” said Chris Hutchison, who has attended the past two events.

This week, church organizers and volunteers will meet to determine which community charities proceeds will benefit. The luncheon raises about $2,000 each year.

Interim minister Laurel Neal said she was impressed with the quality and turnout of the longtime event. “It amazes me how many people were here, even on a rainy day,” she said.
