Mt. Hood Community Orchestra presents "New Worlds" seasonal concert
Mt. Hood Pops Orchestra, a community symphony orchestra with volunteer musicians of all ages, will perform its winter concert at Mt Hood Community College, 26000 SE Stark St., Gresham. "New Worlds" begins at 3:30 p.m. this Sunday, March 12. The orchestra will be performing six numbers including "Dances with Wolves," music from the eponymous Oscar-winning 1990 film, and "Send in the Clowns," written by Stephen Sondheim for the musical "A Little Night Music." Guest conductor Roger Nickerson will lead the orchestra, and the concert also will feature a performance by a special surprise soloist. Black Swan Youth Theatre takes you to "The Secret Garden"
The Gresham-area Black Swan Youth Theatre presents its spring show starting at 7 p.m. this Thursday through Saturday, March 16-18, with an additional show at 2 p.m. on March 18. The theater troupe will perform in Sam Barlow High School Little Theatre, 5105 S.E. 302nd Ave., Gresham. "The Secret Garden" tells the story of an orphan's journey from isolation to a love of nature and people, set in early 20th century Yorkshire countryside.
