Reynolds boys close out Scots with a solid final minute

by: THE OUTLOOK: DAVID BALL - Reynolds guard Jaylen Edwards moves past halfcourt during the Raiders 59-55 home win over David Douglas on Friday night. The Reynolds boys basketball team held on in crunch time to down David Douglas 59-55 on Friday night and closed in on securing the No. 2 spot in the Mount Hood Conference.

The Raiders seemed in command when Devante Warren knocked down his third 3-pointer of the night to put Reynolds up 48-39 with five minutes to play.

But the lead disappeared in a flash when Dwight Dew was fouled hard on his way to the basket, and a Reynolds player was whistled for a technical foul. Dew got his layin to go down and drained three straight free throws.

The Raiders’ lead was down to a single point, and David Douglas had the ball on the sideline with less than a minute to play.

The Scots missed their chance to take the lead when Reynolds guard Cody Starr forced a turnover with some up-close defense.

Reynolds went 5 for 7 (.714) at the free-throw line down the stretch to close out the victory.
