The two East County squads square off in Thursday's district semifinals

by: THE OUTLOOK: DAVID BALL - Greshams Reece McKenzie watches a hit fly into left field during Tuesdays 13-2 win over Reynolds. Gresham and Barlow have set up a semifinal showdown at the majors Little League district tournament after each win early-round games Tuesday.

The Gresham all-stars started the day with a 13-2 win over Reynolds, breaking the game open with a five-run spurt in the third inning that saw home runs by Durham Sundberg and Keegan Hunt. The Gophers ended the game early on the 10-run rule when Jayden Sare sent a two-run shot over the left-field fence in the fourth.

Cyrus Boatman hit a first-inning homer for the Raiders.

Barlow overcame a 4-0 deficit to beat Clackamas 5-4 in the day’s second game, pulling even with a four-run spurt in the fifth inning, and winning on an RBI-single to left field by Daniel Bryant in the sixth.

Gresham and Barlow face off in the district semifinals at 6 p.m. Thursday at Clackamas Little League (Riverside Park). The tournament’s title game is set for 10 a.m. Saturday.
