Big second half carries Corbett past the Royals
CORBETT — The Cardinals went into the locker room at halftime with one touchdown, when they returned to the field they would find the end zone six more times to run away from Portland Christian 48-18 on Friday night.
Early in the third quarter, Corbett running back Austin Arnold broke through a crowd on 4th-and-1 to pick up a first down, and he never stopped. Arnold made his way into the open field and kept a couple chasers at arm's length to cross over the goal line for a 41-yard touchdown.
A fumble gave the ball back to the Cardinals.
Two plays later, Arnold took a handoff and sprinted around the left side for a 24-yard touchdown and a 20-6 Cardinals' lead.
Corbett (2-3) goes after its third straight victory when it travels to Madras at 7 p.m. Thursday.
