Bradford saves the day in double OT

OREGON CITY — The Barlow boys held the lead in the final minute of regulation and again down the stretch in overtime, but Oregon City senior Teron Bradford saved the Pioneers both times and eventually led Oregon City to a wild 71-65 double-overtime win Friday night.
Barlow found itself up five after Jesse White whipped an overhead pass inside, finding teammate Daello Portin-Chapman for a layup with 1:40 left in regulation.
Bradford sent the game to overtime by hitting a 3-pointer with 40 seconds left. The Bruins held for the last shot, but a difficult inbounds pass carried to half court and a rushed shot hit the front of the rim.
Trailing 59-58 in overtime, Bradford was fouled as he started to drive inside the 3-point arc. He hit 1 of 2 at the line to tie the score with 19.6 seconds left.
"I knew crunch time was happening, and there was a tremendous amount of pressure, but I'm always willing to take that on," Bradford said. "This is one of the greatest games I've ever played in."
Barlow held for the last shot again, but an off-balance 3-pointer was off the mark.
Oregon City made eight trips to the free-throw line in the second overtime, clinching the victory when Tyler Quinsey scored on a put back after a Pioneers' missed foul shot for a 69-62 lead with 43.8 seconds left.
Bradford scored nine points in the second overtime — all from the free-throw line — and finished with a game-high 38.
With the result, Oregon City and Barlow join Clackamas and Central Catholic atop the Mount Hood Conference — all with 4-1 league records.
Barlow (9-6) plays at Clackamas (7-8) at 6 p.m. Wednesday.
