The Centennial girls basketball team matched its win total from the last two seasons combined with a lopsided 55-21 decision over Reynolds on Friday. The win also has the Eagles in playoff position, sitting in fourth place, a game ahead of David Douglas, at the halfway point of the Mount Hood Conference season.

After seeing the Raiders climb to within four points early in the second quarter, Centennial coach Jeff Stanek called a timeout to clarify the game plan. Centennial's Ellie Basinski came out of the break with a pair of 3s of her own, and the lead was back to double-digits in a flash.

The Eagles put the game out of reach by scoring the first 12 points of the second half and would carry a 30-point margin throughout the fourth quarter.

Centennial starts the second half of the league cycle with a 6 p.m. home game tonight against Oregon City.

CENTENNIAL BOYS GET FIRST LEAGUE WIN

• The Centennial boys took a 30-point lead into the fourth quarter after holding Reynolds to only five buckets to that point on their way to a 51-30 win.
