Barlow girls surge to victory in the fourth
6A GIRLS BASKETBALL
Mount Hood Conference
The Barlow girls basketball team stormed into the lead in the fourth quarter and couldn't be caught during a 51-44 win over Centennial on Wednesday night.
After chasing from behind most of the way, the Bruins moved ahead when Whitney Waddell converted a three-point play on a driving layup with about five minutes to play.
Waddell and Emory Miller combined to hit 6 for 8 (.750) at the stripe in the fourth quarter to maintain the lead.
The Bruins' win tightens the Mount Hood Conference playoff chase, bring Barlow into a tie with Centennial for fifth place — one game behind David Douglas for the final guaranteed spot.
