Legislators plan town hall event

Business will be focus of April 3 forum in Hillsboro

State Rep. Tobias Read (D–Beaverton) and state Rep. Ben Unger (D–Hillsboro) will host a town hall meeting with the Hillsboro Chamber of Commerce to discuss economic issues facing Washington County.

“The state Legislature plays a crucial role in creating a positive business climate here in Washington County,” said Deanna Palm, president of the Hillsboro Chamber. “We are pleased to have the opportunity to let our representatives know about the local business climate and let them know what they can do to encourage economic growth.”

The two local representatives said they are eager to hear from a wide variety of constituents, from small business owners to those who work for the large high-tech manufacturing companies.

“It is really important to us as legislators that we continue to check in with those who drive our local economy,” said Read. “This is a great opportunity to do that.”

The public forum is scheduled to take place at 6:30 p.m. on April 3, at the Shute Branch of the Hillsboro Public Library, 775 SE 10th Ave. in Hillsboro.

“Everyone in the community is connected to business,” said Unger, “so anyone with questions, comments, or concerns about our economy here in Washington County is welcome to attend.”
