Speakers address equal pay for women

Westside Businesswomen will host two speakers April 17 on equal pay for women.

April 8 was Equal Pay Day. The date symbolizes how far into 2014 women must work in order to earn what men in similar jobs earned in 2013.

According to the American Association of University Women, women make 22 percent less than men.

Laurel Gregory, a career and business passion coach, and Lea McLeod, founder of the Job Success Lab, will discuss tips for negotiating your next job offer or salary review; how to get over the discomfort of talking about money; how entrepreneurs (and everyone else) can overcome the fear of asking for what you’re worth; and what you can start doing to make a difference in gender discrimination.

WBW meets from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Coyote’s Bar and Grill, 5301 W. Baseline in Hillsboro. Cost is $10 for members; $15 non-members.
