Aimee Sukol, director of business development for the Hillsboro Chamber of Commerce, announced last week that the frequency of Tanasbourne District meetings — previously held monthly — has been scaled back to once per quarter.

“We are still a resource to the businesses in Tanasbourne, and I will still maintain contact with them as a business location,” said Sukol.

Meager attendance drove the decision, according to Sukol.

“We were providing monthly meetings over the course of a year; the attendance for those meetings dwindled,” Sukol said. “It could be that the Tanasbourne businesses are just doing really well and they don’t need as much assistance as perhaps they once did.”

The chamber wants to ensure that resources are being concentrated in areas that need assistance. The Tanasbourne community participates in Wake Up Hillsboro, [email protected] and other opportunities. The next quarterly meeting will take place in June at The Springs at Tanasbourne, 1950 N.W. 192nd Ave.

“The chamber still has a focus on Tanasbourne. They remain a large priority on my radar, we just aren’t holding monthly meetings,” said Sukol.

In fact, Tanasbourne, Orenco, Downtown and South Hillsboro will all be targeted by a new business support program known as Business Walk. Volunteers will visit businesses May 8 to learn more about them, identify needs and strategize about how to provide the best resources for the companies.
