Hillsboro Schools say Glencoe High threat of violence fake
The Hillsboro School District is guarding parents against rumors online that a student has threatened violence at Glencoe High School.
In a letter sent to parents on Wednesday, Principal Claudia Ruf said there was no truth to the rumors, which began circulating on social media this week.
“These rumors are not true and the threats are not credible,†she said.
The message was posted to the school district’s website, Ruf said that students who make threats of violence at the school are evaluated by police, staff and mental health professionals.
“If we believed there was a credible threat to our school, we would take action immediately to remove the threat and keep students and staff safe,†she said. “In this case, there is no credible threat and our students, staff, and school are safe. Students did the right thing in sharing the social media posts with us. That allows us to be aware of the concerns and to respond with accurate information."
