Donald Lee Hogan was arrested after allegedly trying to lure a young girl to Washington for sex.

A Washington man is accused of trying to lure a Hillsboro girl for sex, according to Cowlitz County Sheriff's detectives.

Donald Lee Hogan, 65, was arrested Wednesday, May 2 on charges of attempted rape, according to the Cowlitz County Sheriff's office.

According to the Cowlitz County Sheriff's Office, Hogan contacted the 6-year-old girl on Facebook, asking her for sex.

The girl's father intercepted the conversation and contacted Hillsboro Police and the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

A Hillsboro police officer and a Cowlitz County Sheriff's deputy staged a conversation with the man, chatting with Hogan online portraying themselves as the girl, who they said was 13. According to Cowlitz County, Hogan sent sexually explicit pictures of himself to them, believes he was writing to the child. Police said Hogan described various sex acts and invited the girl to his home in Kelso.

According to deputies, Hogan gave the girl directions on how to take the bus to Kelso. Hogan agreed to meet the girl at a bus stop. Hogan was arrested at the Greyhound bas station in Kelso on May 2.

He is being held without bail in the Cowlitz County Jail. Hogan's next court date is set for May 15.

Police recovered child-sized lingerie from his home, authorities said, along with several sex toys, according to police.

According to authorities, no there is evidence of additional victims.

"This case underscores how vitally important it is for parents to be actively involved in their chidrens lives and know who they are talking with on social media," said Cowlitz County Chief Criminal Deputy Charlie Rosenzweig.
