Gales Creek School holds reunion

All Gales Creek Elementary School alumni, staff and families, and the Gales Creek community, are invited to the Gales Creek School Reunion on Sunday, Aug. 13, from 1 to 5 p.m.

The reunion will take place on school grounds at 9125 N.W. Sargent Road, in Gales Creek.

Bring a salad, side dish or dessert to share. Hamburgers, hot dogs and drinks will be provided.

Free women's self-defense class slated

Kim's Taekwondo, 4315 Pacific Ave., in Forest Grove, will host a free women's self defense class beginning Aug. 15. The class will run from 7 to 8:30 p.m., twice a week for three weeks. For ages 14 and older. For more information: 503-359-4997.

Writers in the Grove to hold website workshop

If you're a writer, poet, novelist, or have a small business, a website is a necessity.

As a fundraiser for the Forest Grove Community and Senior Center, Writers in the Grove will present "Website Building WordPress Workshop."

The workshop begins Sept.11 and runs for four consecutive Mondays from 6:30 to 9 p.m.

Classes will be held at the Forest Grove Community and Senior Center, 2037 Douglas St. 

Learn how to set up your own site, create content, and share it through social media.

The four-week workshop is $125 per person and will be taught by WordPress instructor, Lorelle VanFossen of Lorelle on WordPress.

Painters Showcase event set

The 44th annual Painters Showcase Art Exhibit & Sale will be held Friday through Sunday, Aug. 18-20.

The show takes place at The Grand Hotel at Bridgeport, 7265 S.W. Hazel Fern Road, in Tigard.

A "Meet the Artists" wine and appetizer reception will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday nights.

This year there is a special project, "Artists for Animals," a variety of 8-by-10-inch painting for sale for $60. Proceeds from the sales will for to the Oregon Humane Society.

Admission and parking at the event are free.
