The Spartan senior wins the 200 meters and is one of a number of Hilhi standouts on the track and field in Eugene

But from a Hillsboro perspective, the Spartans' Kennedy Taube headed the marquee, winning the 200 meters, finishing third in the 100, and placing 5th with teammates Juliet Raabe, Promise Saechao, and Reagan Reed in the 4x100 relay.

"Kennedy is one of our top-three female athletes since I came to Hilhi in the early 1980's," said Hillsboro Athletic Director Steve Drake. "I'd put her up there with Tiffeny Milbrett and Anna Dean."

The senior sprinter's state title is the cherry atop an outstanding Spartan track career which includes a 2015 state title and meet record in the 4x100 relay, 11 league championships, 11 places in the state meet, and two team most valuable awards. She was also awarded the top newcomer award and the Randy Feitish Sportsmanship Award.

"She's also a tremendous student and leader," said Drake. "Her success is well deserved."

Taube wasn't the only Hilhi athlete standout either. Other notable performers included sprinter Daekwon Mitchell who finished fourth in the 200 meters, fifth in the 100, and was part of a 4x100 relay team with Kobie Mendoza-Daniels, Trevor Fernstrom, and Isaiah DiRienzo that placed third. Mendoza-Daniels finished seventh in the 110 meter hurdles; and Daniel Popovych, Imani Jamali, Josh Jones, and DiRienzo finished 10th in the 4x400 relay.

On the girl's side, Raabe placed eighth in the 300 meter hurdles; Naomi Johnson placed sixth I the discus; Savannah Weight tied for seventh in the high jump; and the sophomore Reed placed 11th in the long jump.

Behind Summit – who scored 71 points – on the boy's side was Crater with 55, Sandy 48, Eagle Point 41, and Hermiston rounding out the top-five with 39. Hillsboro finished with 17 points for 18th place.

Summit scored a whopping 189 points on the girl's side, with Bend finishing second with 74, Hermiston third with 53, Sandy 36, and Marist 33. Hillsboro scored 25 points and finished seventh.
