Joan Maiers to give tips on writing the Stafford way

The Arts Council of Lake Oswego will present a poetry workshop taught by Joan Maiers beginning at 10 a.m. March 8 at 510 Museum and ARTspace, 510 First St. in Lake Oswego.

Titled “Balancing the Light and Darkness: Writing the Stafford Way,” the workshop is in celebration of the William Stafford Centennial.

Maiers works with writers of all ages. She teaches at Marylhurst University, where she was invited to present the nation’s first classes on William Stafford’s writing.

She hosts the Peregrine Literary Series, which showcases Northwest authors and musicians at a Lake Oswego venue the third Sunday of each month.

Her work is published in numerous journals, collections and anthologies.
