As summer vacation comes to a close, the Lake Oswego Public Library keeps the fun going with events all month long.

Add these to your calendar:

n First Tuesday Music series from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Aug. 5 will feature Lake Oswego’s Laila Murphy. An accomplished flutist, singer and performer, Murphy will present music ranging from classical to jazz.

n Sweet Wednesday will perform at 1 p.m. Aug. 13. The award-winning acoustic duo will perform original songs about topics as diverse as a disaster ridden day in New York City, long distance friendships and ghosts along the historic old Route 66. Heartfelt and beautiful vocals, harmonies, guitar, mandolin, harmonica and banjo combine to take you traveling across unchartered waters to places and people you never dreamed of meeting, but whom you will never forget.

n Astronomy for Everyone: Size and Scale of the Universe will be presented by Kevin Manning at 7 p.m. Aug. 21. Manning, an award-winning astronomer and former NASA consultant, founded Look Up to the Stars with the mission to generate interest and foster scientific literacy in the general public nationwide through educational programs.

These programs are free and presented with the support of the Friends of the Lake Oswego Public Library.

The library is located at 706 Fourth Street in Lake Oswego.
