Oregon Adventure Theatre will present an unabridged version of Shakespeare’s “Romeo and Juliet” with three shows in West Linn this September.

The play is directed by West Linn’s William Steele who founded OAT as an amalgamation of his two loves: camping and theater.

“The mission of OAT is to do good work, which strengthens relationships between people and the environment,” Steele said.

“OAT encourages audiences to connect with characters, with each other and with nature by bringing truthful, visceral stories outside for communities to enjoy.”

OAT performances are performed around a campfire, and characters come alive with the help of Commedia masks.

“Commedia Dell’arte, the sitcom theater of the 1600s, pairs astoundingly well with classics such as Shakespeare, breathing new life into characters we are all familiar with,” Steele said.

“Romeo and Juliet” will be performed at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 17 and 26 at 5612 First Ct. in West Linn and again at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 24 at West Linn High School, 5464 W. A St. in West Linn. Admission is free.
