Arrests complete monthlong investigation

Both were taken into custody Wednesday without incident and have since been released from Clackamas County Jail, according to police.

Police Sgt. Tom Hamann said the arrests were the culmination of a monthlong investigation stemming from numerous citizen reports about suspected drug sales involving Abdul-Majid.

“The first person in particular was somebody we had gotten a bunch for reports from folks saying he’d been dealing drugs around town,” Hamann said. “He was a person who was pretty prolific here.”

“We ultimately were able to catch this guy during a drug deal at the Walmart on Jean Way,” he added, noting that officers seized more than $800 and 5 ounces of marijuana during the arrest. “That led us a little farther down the line to the person we believed was his suspected supplier. … Hopefully this is making a little bit of a dent in the traffic here.”

With the second arrest, police reportedly seized another 8.5 ounces of marijuana and more than $2,000 in cash.

Hamann said he didn’t expect any more arrests in this case.
