Dems to hold nominating convention to fill Garrett's seat

Representatives of Oregon’s Democratic Party will hold a nominating convention next week to fill the seat recently vacated by state Rep. Chris Garrett, who has been appointed to the Oregon Court of Appeals.

Garrett represented House District 38, which includes Lake Oswego and part of Southwest Portland.

At the convention, Democrats representing precincts in House 38 will choose three to five names to advance to the Clackamas and Multnomah county boards of commissioners, who will choose Garrett’s replacement.

Anyone who wants to be a candidate for the position needs to file a form with the Democratic party by 5 p.m. Tuesday to be considered. More information, including the form, is available at dpo.org/hd38-convention.

The nominating convention is set to take place at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Oswego Heritage House, 398 10th St. in Lake Oswego.
