Runway on the Lake provides model fundraiser for LOACC

Event organizer Jamie Inglis called Runway on the Lake a fashion show by “Lake Oswego all-stars.”

Truly, the models provided an all-star afternoon of fun and entertainment Sunday at the Lake Oswego Adult Community Center. As emcee Hayley Platt put it, “They’re strutting their stuff for a good cause.” by: SUBMITTED PHOTO: LAUREN HUGHES - Runway on the Lake emcee Hayley Platt, right, has a big hug of congratulations for Kelly Calabria and her daughters Penny, left, and Maria, who were models for the event.

The models ranged greatly in age and modeling experience. There was Lori Arneson, owner of the new Lake Oswego business Skin Spa Salon, who performed and looked just like the model she was in her previous career. There was also 10-month-old Beckett Zogelman, modeling the latest in baby apparel while being carried by his mother Marta Zogelman. There was Kyra Bussanich, owner of Kyra’s Bake Shop, who combines beauty and baking.

There was plenty of male beauty on hand, too. The event’s macho man was Lake Oswego Fire Department Battalion Chief David Morris. There was also the emcee’s handsome husband Mark Platt, who received kudos from his wife: “You look great, babe.”

Sometimes the models had too much energy, and Platt advised them, “Slow down, come back, you’re too cute.”

These models whirled, twirled and even did some discrete shaking for the sellout audience. They best thing they did was provide a sell-out fundraiser that benefited the LOACC.

“People were delighted,” said Kathy Schilling, special events director for the city of Lake Oswego. “People were really excited to be here.”

“I thought it was fabulous,” said LOACC manager Ann Adrian. “Our city parks and rec staff puts together special events like no one else. They showcased our center and Lake Oswego at the same time. It was quite a good mix.”

Inglis was happy to see all of her hard work pay off.

“I had a lot of fun,” said Inglis, who is director of the Lake Oswego Farmers Market. “We were very fortunate to have so many participants. We had a total of 14 models. All of them were community all-stars.”
