NATIONAL NIGHT OUT: The first 20 neighborhoods that register with the City to hold National Night Out parties on Tuesday, Aug. 1, will get a visit from firefighters or police officers bearing gifts. National Night Out is a nationwide initiative to promote public safety, community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie. Neighbors often gather in driveways, front yards, cul-de-sacs and local parks for barbecues, potlucks, ice cream socials and more. FARMERS MARKET (JULY 15): The Lake Oswego Farmers Market returns to Millennium Plaza Park on Saturday, with more than 80 vendors offering fresh fruits, vegetables, meat, cheeses, baked goods, hot foods, artisan products and nursery items. Live music, too. Hours are 8:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m.
MUSIC & MOONLIGHT (JULY 16): The City's popular Music & Moonlight concert series kicks off its 2017 season at 6 p.m. Sunday with a jazzy pop performance by The Bylines in Millennium Plaza Park (200 First St.). The family-friendly concerts are free.

NINTH-ANNUAL PHOTO CONTEST: Amateur and professional photographers are invited to enter their best images in the ninth-annual City of Lake Oswego photo contest. There are seven categories, with prizes given to first-, second- and third-place winners. All winning photos will be included in a special photo exhibit throughout the following year, as well as on the City's website, in its HelloLO publications and in The Review. Entries must be submitted by 5 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 8; contest winners will be announced in November.
