Nina, who played for the Pacers during her freshman and sophomore years, died March 31 from complications related to the flu.

The school will retire her No. 2 jersey at the May 7 home game against Lake Oswego High and present it to Nina's parents, Todd and Laura Heidgerken. Banners at the field display the No. 2 and a photo of Nina pitching for the Pacers, and her jersey number will be chalked behind home plate for each game.

In addition, all JV and varsity players will wear a special sticker on the back of their helmets for the rest of the season. It features Nina's name and jersey number on a softball diamond, backed by angel's wings.
