McCormack, Habernigg, Steding, Matthews, Allen, 1969 boys cross country team, Trotter honored

Lake Oswego, at halftime of the varsity boys basketball game against West Linn on Tuesday, inducted seven new members into its Athletic Hall of Honor.

The Class of 2018 includes basketball/tennis star Jaci McCormack (Class of 2000), swimming/soccer star Sue Habernigg (Class of 1981), volleyball/basketball star Julie Steding (Class of 1982), head dance/cheer coach Gwen Matthews (1998-2008), head dance coach Denise Allen (1996-2009), the 1969 state champion boys cross country team, and cross country/track coach Norm Trotter (1963-70).

Jaci McCormack (2000): High School Basketball/Tennis — Two Time Idaho State Player of the Year, Northwest Shootout Oregon Team Member, USA Today All American Team, 1981 Double Team Conference Champion, 1981 OSAA Consolation Champion. College Basketball — Illinois State University Scholarship, Led Redbirds to the Conference Championship, Her Game Winning Jump Shot was "Best Play of Championship Week By ESPN, MVC Tournament Most Valuable Player, NCAA Tournament Participant, Only Nez Perce Member to Ever Play in the NCAA Tournament. Career in Service — President and Founder of Rise Above, Served as Deputy Executive Director for the Nez Perce Tribe.

Susan Habernigg (1981): High School Swimming — OSAA State Championships in 50-yard Freestyle, 100-yard Freestyle, 100-yard Butterfly, 200-yard Individual Medley, 400-yard Freestyle Relay (Bruinsma, Martin, McGuire, Habernigg), OSAA 50-yard Record Holder Since 1981 23.15, OSAA 100-yard Record Holder Since 1981 50.13, Both Records Were Held For the Longest Time in OSAA History. High School Soccer — 1978 OSAA State Champions. College Swimming — University of Southern California, 1983 and 1985 NCAA Champion 200-yard Freestyle, 1985 USC Half Century Award (Top scholar-athlete at USC). World Championships — 1982 Silver Medal in the 4x100m Freestyle Relay.

Julie Steding (1982): High School Volleyball and Basketball. College Volleyball — Oregon State University Volleyball Scholarship, 1982 OSU Career Record Holder in Hitting Percentage - .371, 1983 Season Record Holder in Hitting Percentage - .421. Both Records Still Stand at Oregon State University.

Gwen Matthews (1998-2008): High School Dance Coach — 2002 - 2nd Place OSAA State Championship, 2004 - OSAA State Champions, 2005 - OSAA State Champions, 2006 - OSAA State Champions, 2007 - 5th Place UDA National Championship-Hip Hop. High School Cheer Coach.

Denise Allen (1996-2009): High School Dance Coach — 2002 - 2nd Place OSAA State Championship, 2004 - OSAA State Champions, 2005 - OSAA State Champions, 2006 - OSAA State Champions, 2007 - 5th Place UDA National Championship-Hip Hop.

1969 Boys Cross Country Team: 1969 OSAA State Champions, Won the State Championship by 59 Points, Overall Finishers/State Placers — 2nd Place - Brad Richards 12:33, 5th Place - Charles Jordan 12:29, 6th Place - Brian Rall 12:29, 15th Place - Toby Daniels 12:46, 41st Place - Dace Knob 13:24, 66th Place - Mike Stelling 13:52.

Norm Trotter (1963-70): High School Head Cross Country Coach — 1969 OSAA State Championship, 1970 OSAA State Championship, Eight Consecutive Years of Conference Championships, 1970 Cross Country Coach of the Year. High School Head Track Coach, High School Teacher, High School Counselor, High School Vice Principal.
