Bill Baars, director of the Lake Oswego Public Library, was recently honored with the Vocational Service Award by the Lake Oswego Rotary Club at its annual holiday dinner.

Baars earned the award for his many contributions to the community.

According to the Lake Oswego Rotary, the contributions include “the fact that he has worked to steer his organization into assuming its role as a community center for Lake Oswego, a place that people come to share ideas, connect and learn and share the experience of living in Lake Oswego; for providing business resources including job searching and resume writing and reference support for entrepreneurs; for founding Lake Oswego Reads; for keeping current with technology such as e-books, e-readers, 3-D printers, etc.; most importantly for being the director of the number one library in the state for the past seven years.”
