Travel the world with friends from LOACC

Photo Credit: SUBMITTED PHOTO - The recent bus trip to Timberline Lodge was a popular outing. For those who like to travel, a new service is being added. Learn more about Collette Travel during informational meetings in September.

Travel the world with the Lake Oswego Adult Community Center.

Mount Hood is a beautiful Oregon destination any time of the year. But it can be difficult to find a reason to take the time to drive up and get a fresh breath of mountain air.

On Aug. 14, we scheduled a trip to Timberline Lodge for a tour and lunch — it was a perfect opportunity to enjoy the mountain and leave the driving to someone else.

The demand was so high during registration we scheduled a second bus and volunteer driver. The consensus upon return was the trip was marvelous. The food was superb, and the tour was wonderful.

Our trips are one of our most popular activities, and we will soon be offering overnight domestic and international trips through Collette, a travel company that offers coordinated tours of fantastic destinations.

Travel with friends, meet new and interesting people. We are having informational meetings in September offered at two different times to fit most busy schedules. The first one is scheduled from 10 a.m. to noon Sept. 4; the second is set for 6 to 8 p.m. Sept. 16.

Call to reserve a spot. Snacks will be served.

Call 503-635-3758 to register for classes, events and make lunch reservations. The LOACC is located at 505 G. Ave. Lunch is served from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at a suggested donation of $4 for those 60 and over and $5 for everyone else.

The building is open. Fall classes and activities have started. I finally made my appointment and had my first massage with Michelle and let me tell you, it was wonderful. I scheduled only a half hour, and a few minutes into it I knew I would be disappointed when my half hour was over. Michelle now offers a 30-minute foot massage. She offers Tuesday appointments at the ACC. Cost is 60 minutes for $48; 30 minutes for $24 and a 15-minute chair massage for $10.

At 10:30 a.m., we are hosting a seminar on the latest scams and frauds; learn how to protect yourself. The seminar is free but call to reserve a spot. School may be in session but summer is not over yet. Join us for a lunch full of summer flavors: sloppy joes on a bun, potato salad, melon and ice cream, served by Helping Hands.
