Making Oregon’s tax system more fair topic of LWV meeting

The League of Women Voters of Clackamas County invites the public to hear Jody Wiser speak on Working to Make Oregon’s Tax System Fairer at 2 p.m. Feb. 19 at Provincial House auditorium at Mary’s Woods, 17400 Holy Names Drive in Lake Oswego.

Wiser is a former educator and founder of Tax Fairness Oregon, whose mission is to reform Oregon’s tax code so that it serves the common good, not special interests.

Wiser will share her organization’s key accomplishments on behalf of taxpayers in the last 12 years and give her perspective on current topics including Oregon’s energy tax credit program.

The event is free and open to the public. Complimentary valet parking is available at the main entrance to Provincial House.

Learn to let go of perfectionism

A workshop to help people learn to let go of perfectionism and uncover what drives harsh self-judgment will be held from 10 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. March 19 at Northwest Catholic Counseling Center, 8383 N.E. Sandy Blvd. in Portland.

Lead by a professional counselor, the workshop will reveal how the compulsive pursuit of unobtainable goals leads to feelings of stress and exhaustion, and how to better handle the stress.

Tickets are on sale for the 32nd annual Classic Wines Auction to be held March 5 at the Oregon Convention Center’s Portland Ballroom, 777 N.E. Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd.
