Let the festivities begin!
The weather outside was far from frightful on Friday as people gathered for the annual Christmas Tree Lighting event which began with the lighting of the giant Sequoia at Bigelow Plaza, then moved down to Millennium Plaza Park for the lighting of the Millennium Tree. Holiday spirits were high as hundreds of people enjoyed the sights, sounds and sweet tastes of the season.
City Councilor Jackie Manz threw the switch to light the tree in Bigelow Plaza, and Santa riding in a fire truck led the way to Millennium Plaza. High school choirs performed at both parks, and the Lake Oswego Millennium Concert Band played at Millennium Plaza Park.
Warm beverages, cookies and popcorn were served to keep the chill at bay.
The mild weather allowed all to enjoy the festivities.
The annual tree lighting is hosted by the Lake Oswego Chamber of Commerce and the City of Lake Oswego.
West Linn will hold it's annual tree lighting Friday, Dec. 1 at City Hall, located at 22500 Salamo Road in West Linn.
