Woman listed in serious condition at Portland burn unit

A 48-year-old Molalla woman has hospitalized with burns to her hands and face after an aerosol can exploded during a backyard burn at 8 p.m. Monday.

The woman was listed in serious condition Tuesday morning at the Legacy Emanuel Hospital Burn Unit. Her name has not been released.

According to Molalla Fire District spokeswoman Denise Everhart, the woman had an illegal burn pile going in her backyard at 32289 S. Highway 213 when the can exploded in the fire.

Backyard burning is not allowed until October in Molalla, Everhart said.

The injured woman was taken to the hospital by Life Flight.

“It’s the closest burn center,” Everhart said.
