Open your hearts.

It's that time of the year again. Molalla High School's annual Share the Love fundraiser is just around the corner.

For the past 13 years since it was begun by science teacher, Joe Zenisek, Share the Love has raised thousands of dollars for local individuals, families and organizations in need.

Last year, Share the Love raised more than $20,000 for the Shoulders Family, and this year is no exception.

"I have personally been involved in Share the Love the past four years, and I am amazed in how large it's grown and how many people have joined the cause," said Share the Love Coordinator senior Ashley Alexander. Many recent Share the Love events have been added, such as the hypnotist show on Feb. 3 at 7 p.m., the Bowling Night on Feb. 6, 6:30-8:30, the Red Run, which is now a "color run", on Feb. 8, with registration at 7 a.m. and many more.

In fact, Share the Love has grown so large that it became an official non-profit last year, with a board of directors in conjunction with the Molalla Education Foundation. As Share the Love is now an independent organization, 10 percent of funds raised will be held back for advertising and start up expenses. In the future, the Share the Love board would like to begin offering small local scholarships and grants.

Share the Love is an example of what the Molalla community can do when it pulls together; "Share the Love represents the best in us, in that it is a time for us to be selfless and use our resources to give back to others," said leadership advisor Mackenzie Behrle.

RED RUN, Saturday, Feb. 8

This year, Molalla High School's fourth annual Red Run is truly going to be a "red run."

Registration is $25 per person and includes a red or pink powder package to paint the town during the 5k.

Registration forms are available online at or runners can register at 7 a.m. before the event at 9 a.m. All proceeds go to Share the Love.
