Northwest Dental offering free dental work for second Dr. Paul Puffer Heart of the Community Day. Applications due Jan. 30.

Northwest Dental Clinic is accepting applications for this year’s Dr. Paul Puffer Heart of the Community Day, during which they’ll give free exams, cleanings and other work to kids and adults.

This is the second year the Northwest Dental team has held the event to honor Paul Puffer, who ran the clinic here in Molalla for 49 years.

Last year, Dr. Olesya Salathe, who now owns the clinic, and her team screened kids from first grade through third grade. They identified more than 70 kids who needed dental work. “It was a really fun day,”?Salathe said.

This year, Salathe made a few changes. It is now open for adults and kids.

Applications for the service are available for pickup at Northwest Dental and need to be submitted by Jan. 30. The exams, cleanings and other work will be done on Feb. 20.

“It’s for adults. It’s for kids. You can be low income. You can be a family where both the mom and dad are working but you’re just struggling to get by,”?Salathe said.

The only out-of-pocket cost??You have to bring in a donation to the Backpack Buddies program for Foothills Community Church, Salathe said.
