Front of bus demolished, but nobody injured in early morning crash

by: SUBMITTED PHOTO - Students had to be evacuated out of the back of this Colton school bus following a crash Thursday morning. No students were injured when a Colton school bus crashed early this morning on Hunter Road near Colton.

District Superintendent Linda Johnson said 10 students were on the bus, which was just starting it’s route when the accident took place early Thursday, March 13.

Witnesses said the cab of the bus was completely smashed in.

“It was dark, and there was a trailer parked in the road, so when the bus turned the corner, it ran into the trailer,” Johnson said. “Everyone had to be evacuated out the back. We brought in another bus and put the kids on that.”

Johnson said contact was made with the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office. But no emergency vehicles were called in from either Colton or Molalla Fire Districts. She said the bus had to be towed.

Colton School District does not contract with First Student. “This was our own Colton bus,” Johnson said. “We have a good record.”
