A Molalla woman died Monday night after she was shot during what police believe to be an argument that involved alcohol.

Around 8:30 p.m. on Jan. 2, police responded to the 800 block of June Drive in Molalla to find an adult female that had been shot. She died from her injuries while being transported to a hospital by emergency medical personnel, according to a press release from Molalla Police.

The woman has been identified as 53-year-old Brenda Marie Flues, according to the same press release sent out Tuesday afternoon.

The victim's husband, 53-year-old Wayne Edmund Flues, was also at the scene and was taken into custody to the Clackamas County Jail as the apparent suspect.

Police spokesman Aaron Christopherson told Katu News that "the wife reportedly told her husband to shoot her, but he didn't know the gun was loaded."

Flues will be facing a murder charge and will be arraigned on the afternoon of Jan. 3, according to Molalla Police Chief Rod Lucich.

This story will be updated when more information becomes available.
