Adult Band Festival benefits MHS Band
In conjunction with Beaverton Community Band, the Molalla High School Band Department is hosting an Adult Band Festival on Saturday, March 18, from 10 a.m. to about 3 p.m. at MHS auditorium.
The festival will have five adult bands playing in 45-minute intervals throughout the day, with the four-time district champion MHS Jazz Ensemble playing for one and one-half hours during the lunch break at the event.
Band department head Matt Farris said he hopes to make the event become an annual tradition again as it used to be, and he hopes to have more bands in the lineup in the coming years.
The five bands playing include the Portland Community College Community Band, Beacock's Concert Band, Beaverton Community Band, Portland Gay Symphonic Band, and the Salem Concert Band.
Admission to the festival is $5 and all proceeds go towards the Jazz Band's funding for their trip with the Socialaires that they take every other year.
Refreshments will be provided throughout the day by the Molalla Band Boosters, and a raffle will be conducted that includes donations from supporting vendors, including Wally's Music, Marcinkiewicz Co., and Canby Music.
