Police: Driver involved in HWY 211 crash admitted to using heroin previous evening
A Life Flight helicopter was called in for single-vehicle crash that occurred on Highway 211 near Rural Dell Elementary School in the early morning of Thursday, May 11.
According to a report from Oregon State Police Officer Jared Beck, Tyler James Tully, 24, was traveling northbound on Highway 211 just after 5 a.m. when he failed to negotiate a turn, continuing across the southbound lane and into a ditch.
The vehicle, a black Ford Ranger pickup truck, rolled onto its side and hit a tree in a residential yard adjacent to the road. Tully was transported via Life Flight to a Portland hospital prior to the police's arrival on scene.
According to the police report, Tully admitted to using heroin in the evening of May 10. He was heavily sedated with narcotics for pain management, and no DUII is being pursued.
